Medals of my grand uncle:Sänger Flieger

    Hi guys,
I would like to possess the same medals received by my grand uncle, Carl Hans Theodor Holler, the Pilot Singer.
They are them:Vicefeldwebel das Eisener Kreuz II. und I. Klasse, das Hanseatenkreuz, Flugzeugführer und Vermundeten Ubzeichen und das Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwertern.
    Can someone help me?
    Otto

      Pretty neat Grand Uncle!

Which type of Hanseatenkreuz do you need? There are three types.
      Bremen, Hamburg and Luebeck.

        Hi Rolf. Good question!

In the book "Das holsteinische Geschlecht - HOLLER - Sippe: heilingenstäden-Rendsburg, Zusammengestellt von August Holler, Hamburg - Carl Holler -Verlag,Hamburg36, Valentinskamp34 , the book of the genealogy of my familly, isn't mentioned wich of the three is.

For you as curiosity, von Moltke and Georg Ferdinand von Mecklenburg are my ancestors too.
        Regards and thanks,
        Otto

If in fact your family comes from Schleswig-Holstein I would hazard the guess that he received the Luebeck cross given the proximity.

I wish I had family members such as yours, as they are rather famous.
Mine are a couple of Boer war fighters (not sure on names), handfull of english, dutch and a whole lot of German. My cousins live in Mecklenburg vor Pommern. Also, had some relatives in Hannover, but unsure where they went when the war (world war redux) ended.
Neat that you can trace such family members down!

            Hi Rolf!

            Thanks again!
In this book I can trace ancestors the starting from 1510. In all those centurys we have many military persons on the familly, if, by curiosity, you want a copy of this book ( more or less 56 pages ), I have it scanned and I can send to you.
If you want send me a PM with your email.
            Warm regards,
            Otto

              Rolf,

The name Carl Holler is well known to us German WWI aviation nuts. He was an early war flyer who ultimately served in the von Richthofen Geschwader. Although not an ace, he is credited with three confirmed victories. As a matter of fact, he finished the war flying for the Kriegmarine. A most interesting fellow. I can provide you with a more-or-less complete service record for him if you are interested. Contact me off line, either through the Forum here or at my E-Mail: Duiven@Yahoo.com .

              Rick
