    Austro-Hungarian Pilots badge, miniature ?

    Hello to All,

This is the very first time I post here... but I guess it is a more gentlemanlike place than the IIIrd Reich Militaria Forum ?

Anyway, I would like to submit to you this miniature Austro-Hungarian Pilots badge I recently acquired.

The badge is only about 32 mm. high and also 32 mm. wide.

Personnally, I like it but would like to learn more about it :

    1. Is it genuine ?
    2. Can it be somewhat dated ?
    3. Is it some kind of 'Prinzengrosse' badge ?
    4. If not, some kind of civilian lapel badge ?
    5. or, or , or : opinions welcome !

    Many thanks to All,

    Mark

      Wow! Nice looking badge.

I don't know much about these, but it looks nice even though the eagle looks a little bit strange to be Austrian made. Well, never know about minis... No maker marks or anything anywhere?? If you have a tripod, maybe could try to take new pictures in a more shadowy place with long exposure so can get sharper picture without light reflections - don't use flash...

Hopefully you get reply soon, I am also interested what more expert people say about that one.

Thanks for your reply and no, absolutely no maker mark on this miniature.

I'm ashamed about the pictures as I recently bought two new spotlight in order to make 'better close-up pictures' (that's what I thought !) but ... I think I should better invest in a better photographer !

The best investment for photographing still objects from close is tripod - no matter what kind of camera you have. Use remote control or "timer" for shooting. Then learn to set up manually the white balance level so pictures dont need to be "handled" so much for the color. Forget using flash unless really necessary- it basically always ruins pretty much all the pictures.

Anyway... I like that badge - I hope someone can figure out some facts about it. I haven't seen that kind of mini before. For me it looks good, but I am not expert at all in these.
