    1866 Prussian Commemorative Medal & Franco-Prussian Medal

Good afternoon fellows. Just wanting to get a review on this two place bar. The ribbons seem to be in too good of condition. The medals and suspension rings both have a nice patina and seem good. And, what time period would this bar been worn if indeed it's real. Thanks for taking a look!

The bar is unfortunately fake with modern ribbons - you can see stitching along the borders of the ribbons, and they are waaaaay to new for 100 +/- years.
      The medals are good.

I am sorry but I agree, this medal bar is made with repro ribbons.

Indeed, this is a recent mounted fake bar using fake ribbons and a modern backing. Awards are real, awarded ones.

This combination would have been worn between 1871, institution of the 1870/71 medal and March 1897, instition of the centenary medal.

You may be a bit too harsh. The ribbons are " modern replacements" on what looks to be an original metal suspension bar

That doesn't, in my opinion, fit the era it should be from.

I suspect that you are correct in that the metal backing pin does not date from 1871 and that the red cloth backing style is also not like those of the 1870's but I still would not be unhappy if I owned it and definately would not consider it a fake but rather something that is to be expected with medals that were proudly worn for many years.
