      This exact piece, which is an interwar Godet or WWII "Schickle-type," sold about ten days ago on the eStand for $1500.

      I missed it by about 30 minutes and kicked myself all day because of it.

      Here's the seller's original photo:

          Then why sell it immediately? I also think after reading the thread that it is not 100% proven to be a Schickle...

            I think the medal looks strange without the stippling on the writing on the front lettering of this PLM., but may have been a PP item.

            I STILL think it would be prudent to add an auction section to e stand where items run for 14 days , possibly for higher rarer items, but not common ones, so all people who work can have an equal opportunity on items worth over 500. If this would be implemented , all would be happier , or even have a 24 hour rule to be able to offer more on set price items , so every time there is a new offer above the e stand agreement extends it 24 more , (same as an auction) as to allow only the first one to agree to buy things is basicly a monopoly for retired people who have more money to spend than younger working folks, and can be online all day, and dominate the for sale items unfairly. Either of these ideas would level the playing field, help all alike, but sellers would have to provide Verifiable identification to end the scams and also have a 30 day return privilege only if items are fund to be reproductions or a 25% restocking fee if not, on top of postage to discourage idiot buyers who want to play games (postage on the buyers nickle) and also must have 1000 postings and proving their identitys before being allowed to use the service. (plus 3% to the forum + .25% for me for the great suggestion)...then streptile may have had to pay more, but also may have scored and saved a day of self abuse.(puts me to mind of jim carey in the movie liar liar, when he is in court defending jennifer tilly in a divorce ,and goes to the bathroom and starts beating himself up) but this is Just a suggestion, but eventually must happen and would be a monumental improvement on the current policy.

                Thanks for your opinions, guys. As i said, I'm not an expert for PLM's and definitely not a buyer for this one but , anyway, I would like to make it clear - is it really an "original PLM" as advertised? IMO only WW1 issued PLM's are the originals, post 1918 but pre 1945 PLM's are, let's say, just more desirable replicas or substitutes than post WW2 pieces... Again, it is something fishy about this one and I'm not sure why I have this feeling, so I started this thread. Maybe the flaw on "r" letter in a word "Pour" made me wonder... If I'm wrong, I deeply apologize to a seller for being suspicious, but for a asked price of 10K this issue worth to be discussed...

                  In my opinion it is pre-1945, so it is collectible, but no -- not "original." I agree with you that the only types we can call originals are those made within the official award period.

                    I'm just curious - who put it on eStand?
                    It is pity that we do not have an eStand archive, we could learn a lot out of it...

                      plm

                      It is a original otto schickle cross . As to when it was made that has not been settled. As for the archive there is one if you do a serach on it. As for the chasing there are know ones made by godet that were war time made with no chaseing one just sold on emedals site for 45,000.00 I think was the final price on it . Also seen on the site under godet files.

                        Thanks Cliff. Seems that our view on PLMs, especially post WW1, is still a little bit "foggy". For example, I would like to know when did baroque suspension occured, but I could not find an answer here on WA. Or did I just miss it? ... Regarding the eStand archive, I found only this: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...estand+archive Any hint?

                          btw, my first thought was that ebay PLM's price was too high but now I guess that the real PLM's value is only "in the eye of the beholder"...

                            I think the market value on these is about $4.5K. It was definitely sold cheap on the eStand. The eMedals' price of $9K (here) was high for a few reasons:
                            1. His prices are always very high;
                            2. The piece was cased;
                            3. The three-striped ribbon for oakleaves is extremely rare and would account for $2K by itself.

                            Andreas Thies sold two of these recently and prices were in the €3K range.

                            I guess the seller must be a member here -- maybe if he sees this thread he can add his comments?

                              Hi as far as I know the wanger plms always had the baroque suspension on them even the war time plms.There are other plms with this style one is the S&L PLMS and the other is one they call the dead eye whigh is maked Godet on the ring of some of them and like the schickle some say they are good and some say they are a post war copy but tend to bring about $5,000.00 and i seen some sell for a lot more. And like these there is the rothe and neffe plms they have a frame like the godet and chase letters but have a totally different eagles also very well make plms and they are like the dead eye and the schickle no one wants to say they were made during the war. But have seen them sell for a lot on other site as well as emedals . Do a serach on plms and you can learn a lot.Hope this helps you out .Cliff
