    Franco-Prussian War Vet

    Merry Christmas!

I've had this wonderful photo of a F-P Veterans who holds the EK2 and the Kdm for the war. The original is more sepia toned and shot in Schwerin, but was wondering if anyone can help with possible unit or rank from his collar tresse. Buttons are obscured and as hard as I look, can't make out his shoulder straps designators.

    Any help would be appreciated!

This is an active Seconde-Lieutenant or Premier-Lieutenant, which was serving in the Mecklenburgian Grenadier-Regiment Nr.89 1st or 3rd Bataillon.

If this gentleman is from a Mecklenburg unit and was a Franco-Prussian War veteran, why is it that he doesn't have the Mecklenburg War Merit Cross? I was looking through the Ranglisten and every single officer from GR89 who received the EKII also received the Militärverdienstkreuz 1870.

Also, is this collar lace particular to just this regiment? I've never seen it before.
