Is there any way one can tell if an EK2 was a non-combatant EK2 aside from having the non-combatant ribbon attached? If not then anyone could put an original non-combatant ribbon on any EK2 and call it a non-combatant cross couldn't they?

you have to be careful with non combatant ribbons on rings and on bars .
both options are often put together .
reproduced non combatant ribbons are sold on military sites and ebay fore as long as they exist .
sure the possibility has being used extensively .
ask a WW2 collector how many bars are messed with , or completely put together and also looking perfectly convincing.
you will here concerning story's .
fore me , its easy .
every collector of Iron Crosses will want one , and most have one soon enough .
that is not adding up with the rarity of it .
