I was wonder what this hat was for? Dark blue top with a red band. The bottom cockade is black and silver with a silver Iron Cross in the center. Is this a veterans hat and if so what would the time frame be for it. Thanks and all comments are welcome! Mike

Hey Mike. This is a post-1895 Schirmmütze. The two Kokarden are for Reich's (top) and Preußen (bottom) for a Reservist. This is by far the most common cap found, worn by almost all Infantry regts, some Ulan regts, and a host of other smaller units. The larger visor seems to have come into fashion around 1900.
