    PLM copy

    Hi Guys,

I know this PLM is a copy. It doesn’t seem to match the older copies like Rothe and S&L that are more commonly found. Can anyone tell me more about it ? Is this worth keeping as a filler ?

    Thank you.

    Alex

This particular piece is based on a S&L piece, and appears to have been made from one of the unfinished solid stamped one piece blanks that have been surfacing over the years, or even cast from one. It's not as well made as the standard S&L in addition to having a modified or flat sided suspension.

          PLM Copy

          Hi, Alex,

It is exactly like one I have. It is based on an S&L original, but has 2 flaws.

          1) The lack of detail on the suspension loop.

          2) The way that the l of "le" runs into the frame.

I will try to post a pic.

            MY S&L Style PLM Copy

Here is mine. it appears to be from the same die. The cut-outs are exactly the same shape. The quality of the enamel is not great, but it looks very good in portrait photos taken from a normal distance.

              Comparison

I have created an image of it in wear posed like the well known one of von Greim. As you can see it holds up quite well. The colour looks correct, and it appears quite realistic. So yes, it is worth keeping as a filler piece. There is a vendor in Germany selling them for Euro 125.00
