Question on SEH Verdienstmedaille in Silber

Hello,
I purchased this medal yesterday at a local gun show. I looked back into old posts and I saw that Claudio has posted one with the same attachment setup. Does anyone know why some of the medals have a slotted attachment and a few have the more standard ring and eye like this one? Was this just easier to mount on a bar? Finally, are there any opinions on originality of this one? Other than the different attachment this is very well done and high quality.
