Strangely marked EKII

Here's another one that just arrived. The "V"-ish mark on the ring doesn't appear to be a normal stamp, but certainly isn't an accidental scratch. The eye is marked 10 or 01 in the normal way. Unfortunately my camera won't pick it up. The horizontal striations on the obverse are unusual, too. Any comments are appreciated.

Another new arrival, marked WS on the eye. The backing is black, not the brown it appears in the scan. The diagonal ribbing in the material is a new one on me.

Tom when you write about "eye", are you referring the smaller ring?
