I don't get through the Imperial forum much, but I thought you Imperial guys might like to see the GFM boards I just picked up.

These came out of Jason Burmeister's collection and have been featured in Ltc. Johnson's hard bound German War Booty book.

Here is a close up of the batons.

It appears the flecking (blue, gold, red) and the hardware on the boards indicate a generaloberst with the rank as a generalfeldmarschall for the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. With no cyphers on the boards indicating this chap was a "Honorary Chef" of a particular regiment, my best guess would be he was the commander of the 34th Infantry and 17th Cavalry Brigades, which was part of 17th Division of the IX Army Corps. I think these boards belonged to Friedrich Franz IV, Grandduke of Meckenburg-Schwerin.

Thanks a lot for the information! As a Third Reich collector I don't have a lot of reference material on Imperial.

I've been looking through Der Rittmeister Militaria. He has a lot of Imperial GFM boards that are named and I didn't think it was possible to do so without a device. Is there a good reference book on the subject that you would recommend?

              Thanks for the comments.
It's funny you should ask that Mark, I asked myself that very same question. Maybe I'm growing as an individual?

Now that we have a possible name on these, I'm surprised Rick hasn't chimed in.
