Help with a German WW1 Pass

Hi all
I usually collect German WW2 paperwork but recently picked up a small estate of paperwork to a soldier who fought during WW1 at Verdun and the Somme. I have his WW1 Military Pass but there is also this pass which ive no idea about. Can anyone tell me what the pass is for ?

Its his Ersatz Reserve ID to a Pioneer unit. If this belongs to the guy in your other thread it makes sense. The minenwerfer troops were drawn from Pioneer units as they were technical specialists.
