    Waterloo medal 1815 Hannoverian

    Hi guys!

What is your opinion about this Waterloo Medal for Hannoverians? Original? Does anyone know what this unit did during the battle?

    Any input appriciated.

There were 11.000 Hannoverians fighting during the Waterloo campaign, many of them in British army as an KGL (KingĀ“s German Legion). Hannover was occupied by France since 1806, so many officers and soldiers escaped French occupation and entered British army. There is an monument in Waterloo that is called Hannoverian Monument.

In my opinion medal is authentic and very nice.

        very nice example.

I collected Waterloos (both British and Hannover) for years until the prices got out of reach.

It's particularly nice that this still has the original clip and ring suspension. Because medals were worn continuously in those days, even on active service, the clip would often break and be replaced by a later style of suspension.

          Nice!!!!

          Lucky Dog.
This battalion was at Quatre Bras and Waterloo. At Quatre Bras it was thrown into disorder and pushed back by a charge by lancers.
At Waterloo it was part of Bests' Hanovarian Brigade and comprised of 621 men. It stood at the western side of the ridge- halfway between the cross roads and the farm of papelotte. It endured some hard pounding by French artilery and later moved its position to assist with the defeat of the Imperial Guard. It lost 165 men on June 18th and an additional @ 20 at Quatre Bras.
