    ek 1 1914 MM L/52

    Hello,

I just have got an EK1 1914 maker marked L/52 below the retaining hook. It is a convex cross and it has a WWI period frame. Nevertheless the Maker's Mark is correct as it is exactly as that one you find on Zimmermann's 1939 crosses. Are such crosses normal?

    Regards

    Carlos

    I Can'tpost pictures beause I don't have a scanner or a dig-cam

    L/52

Obviously, during the Ww2 era, EK manufacturers still made WW1 EK's for the veterans. Yours would have been made by Zimmerman (L/52).
Here is the L/52 marking on a 1939 screwback

Thank you fr your reply. And it is a very nice cross. In your case the cross has the frostg finish as by th 1939 ones, and even the same rame as thoe, while mine has the frame of 1914, and a vaulted one
          I would like to put a picture; but;;

          Regards

A 1914 cross with a LDO number should have a 1939 style frame. Regards Chris

              Hi,

Is it possible that a 3rd Reich made WW1 replacement could have been made in Schinckleform style, i.e. a WW1 frame used to produce a WW2 relacement with an LDO number?

              Regards

              Steve

I have a similar cross. It's 1914 style, not the 1939 frame and is convex. It is marked below the catch L/52 and is original.

So, yes this configuration is OK.

No problem, Carlos. Good to hear yours is a match. The one I have has never been worn and never been cleaned. Underneath all that tarnish I'm willing to bet is a very, very nice EK1.

One thing I have learned from collecting is that there are exceptions and not to judge until you see the piece being discussed

It's a pity you can't post pics of your's. What kind of condition is it in?

                        Hello again,

first sorry for the late answer. ine is in 1- condition, also with soem tarnish, but in my opinion also unused.
