    EK_1 question

    Hello all,

Can anyone tell me why the EK_1 is like it is with the loop on top? Also, what are the Iron Cross shaped medals on the right?

Your 'GOLD' cross looks alot like a Mecklenburg 'style' that due to the holes on end of arms would have been sawn to tunic
And at a guess the EK1 may have been worn as a pendant by a widow?

          That may be. Quite odd.

The one on the far right is a Landwehrkreuz, meant to wear on a cap. Sorry I didn't realize you were asking about this one also.

The EK1 is just modified by a jeweler to wear also as an EK2. Neat thing.
              Best regards,

Not sure. It could also have been modified more recently for wear as a necklace. Bikers and rock stars wore them regularly in the '60s and '70s.

Really nice items, I like the modified EKI, please let me know if you want to part from the Gold gab ich fur eisen, silver and iron cross. I focus on Gold for iron items in my humble collection.
                    Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps the modified EKI was worn in a medal bar of some sort. Modified for wear on a civilian frack bar when poking extra holes in a jacket my not have been economicaly feasable during the hard postwar years.

                      Interesting modification.
