    Prussian Order of the Crown...

--I may have the opportunity to acquire this Prussian Crown Order 3rd class with Swords (& w/swords on the ring) CASED!
--I was wondering if one of you guys could look up the numbers on these, maybe get the relative rarity or a ballpark price?
--It is a one-sided version by Godet, I can supply more pictures if anyone is interested...

    Sorry

I strongly advise against purchasing this cross. It's an absolute fantasy piece. Third Class Crown Order was only made in gold, not a one-sided, even for a medal bar. Also, you can have a 3. kl., 3.kl. w. Swords, OR 3.kl. w. Swords am ring. Swords on ring signifies a subsequent award w. swords of the same class. The third class would have been turned in to receive one with swords on ring. No known "double sword" was ever done, or is listed in regs. There are other fantasy pieces like this with double swords. STAY AWAY!
PS: NO German ever did that hack soldering job of the swords to the top of the cross! The swords should be on the suspension ring knob, not hacked onto the top of the cross!

          Hi,

a piece like this is THEORATICALLY possible.
If somebody got the crown 4th class with swords and bumped up to the peacetime 3rd class he got the 3rd class with swords on the Ring. If he got after the 4th class also the 3rd class as wartime decoration he got the 3rd cl. ONLY with the swords, but with the 3 times white striped ribbon. A cross 3rd class with swords and swords on the Ring means, he got the 4th class with swords, later the 3rd class with swords on the ring as peacetime award and again later for war merits the swords added to the 3rd class. Theoretically possible, but in the real live?
I think, if this is a self-bought piece for the medal bar, why it is not hanging on a medal bar? I would buy such a piece only with the very exact story. Only a single piece like this? NEVER!

          Best greetings

          Daniel

            Greetings from Idaho,

In the book "die Orden und Ehrenzeichen des Ko"nigsreichs Preussen" by Arnhard Graf Klenau and Dr. Peter Sauerwald it lists as possible on page 66 the following:

"357 3. Klasse mit Schwertern und Schwertern am Ring am dreimal weiss gestreiften Band, G, LP"

I make that as the 3rd Class with Swords and Swords on the Ring on the 3 times white striped ribbon, in GOLD, and a Value of LP "LiebhaberpPreis"

Liebhaberpreis is defined at the beginning of the book as (In German):

I translate that as: "rarer than hen's teeth".

            MfG,
            Dan Cole
