    1813 ek2 opininon

    Hi,

Here's couple shots of 1813 ek2 that I'd like to hear your expertiese on. Sorry but I do not have better shots..
It's a bit ruff and has been painted over corrosion. Is it original and do you have view when these crosses were made if not early piece?

          I think it's a 1914 that's been messed with.

            Isn't this a WW1 design?

Thank you all for the comments, that's what I thought. Quite interesting that many dealers have these "enhanced" crosses for sale as originals. I will keep looking...

Agree to what's been said. A 1914 EKII that had the frames opened, core ground down and sloppily resoldered.

Currently Kai Winkler has an original for sale here, and eMedals has a number of nice originals for sale as well here.

                    Here is Kai's piece:

                      Hi Mace,

Take these crosses from winkler and emedals as reference pieces, don´t get disgusted with the price. Learn a lot and - when you will be educated enough what to look for - browse ebay to buy it cheap. Maybe you will be lucky and you will win EK1 1813 for less than 700 euros.

Here is a great reference thread for 1813s.

And yes,, original 1813s have been found on Ebay. That's where I found mine.

I agree that Winkler's price is a bit high for that piece, but eMedals' are not too bad.

I bought mine for 520 euros, so emedals asking 3.500 dollars for the same piece is still too much, I think.
