Imperial is not my area, so any opinions on this Friedrich August Cross will be much appreciated.

Hi Don,

If the cross is iron (it looks like it) then it's imo a nice honest wartime awarded example. The pin looks a bit shiny, probably due to wear (possibly cleaning, remote possibility due to replacement, but I don't think the latter is so). The hardware is one of a few slight wartime variations. This type can be found in Knauer marked boxes.
