    a sad passing

    Hi Ricky,

My deepest sympathy's go towards the family of your deceased friend. This person was what a true collector is => a Researcher.

I thank him for the fact that he has shared his knowledge with you and other collectors arround, who on their turn can share again, etc ... !!!! (even if i have never met him or have spoken towards him => he has certainly left his marks and these will always be greatly recognized and appreciated )

    Thank you once again,

      George

      Rick,

I only got to know George recently through email but I am extremely saddened at the passing of this courteous and knowledgable gentleman. May he rest in peace.

      Regards

Sincere condolences Rick. The loss of a good friend is never easy to bear.
He can look down now, from a better place, and be reassured that his apprentice continues to carry the Torch, and maintain the high standards and values he helped set.

            Rick,
I am very sorry to hear one of your friends and mentors has passed on. It was a beautiful eulogy you gave him. There is one part that you mentioned that his like will never come again. I'm sure you don't realize it but a lot of us feel that way about you. You are one of his kind.

            Best, Sal

and of course 'brother' Sal is absolutely right. Mr Seymour's legacy is abundantly evident.

Rick, I'm very sorry to read of your loss. I looks as if he touched a lot of people in direct and indirect ways. My prayers are with him and with those he left behind.

Like Rick, I was a long-time beneficiary of George's knowledge and research skills.

Many of the groups I used to find in Germany wound up in George's collection. But the ultimate destination of the group had no bearing on George's willingness to share the information he had acquired over many years of collecting. He was always interested in keeping the name and history with the group.

                      Rick,

I join everyone else in extending my deepest condolences. Your tribute was touching. I think I met him only once, and never knew him, but through your words feel that I knew the kind of man he was. Thank you and God bless.

A great eulogy, Rick. George was truly a giant in Imperial German collecting and will be sorely missed.

Rick, nothing more sad and tragic than the passing of someone with whom you admire, respect and rely upon to just be there. It's a tragedy many of us have experienced. I don't for a moment doubt that you will hear his words in your mind and those words will lead you to another discovery of which he would be proud. And for that future discovery of yours, he lives on through your enthusiasm and dedication to this hobby. We all owe George a deep debt of graditude for helping to shape what you've become to this hobby.

                                Rick,

I must echo Brian's sentiments and condolences. If any comfort can be found, it is that the inspiration and knowledge that George left you with is inspiring a new generation of collectors. Many of us who started out as "zinkers" would not have had our interest in Imperial if not for your experience and knowledge which you always attributed to your "guru." In that regard his legacy in this hobby - what he loved to do - will live on, not only with those who knew him, but with those who are still learning from those who knew him. All of us on this forum owe him much, even those of us who never met him.
