    Bavarian Merit Order 4th Class

    Hello all,

I am showing my new Bavarian Merit Order I bought this weekend. I picked up a few enlisted men's crosses but was unsure if I would ever see an officers. However, the MAX show had a few this weekend.

It is marked JL 900 on the swords and medal.

    Thank you,
    Scott

I agree. Better watch out, enamel becomes addictive.

I was up late last night looking at a few. Baden has a beauty, and those Austrian Red Cross examples aren't too shabby either.

Hands down, my favorite Imperial award has to be the cross posted.

                Hi Scott,

A beautiful Imperial Order for sure. Looks like an earlier piece with genuine gold center medallions. The cross is .950 silver and the swords are .900 silver. Is there a silver content number on the suspension ring?

                Best regards,
                Tom

I believe the Zahringer Lion on this bar has no reverse.

                          Hello Pierce,

Yes, and what a shame. Someone went and ruined an otherwise original medal bar by removing the original Zähringen Lion and replacing it with a cheaply made copy. Good eye!

                          Best regards,
                          Tom

And, I think, that particular Zähringen Lion fake is made of either molded plastic or a cheap white metal. Not even remotely close to the original shown here:
