Might seem like the MMThO or Military Order of Maria Theresa was common but it's quite the opposite.

It was awarded 1241 times between 1757-1931. It was awarded, regardless of rank, to Commisioned Officers.

Last surviving Knight was Marine Pilot Gottfried v. Banfield, he died 1986. Here is his RK of MMThO with Mini.

This RK was awarded in 1929 to U-31 Captain Hermann Rigele for sinking the British Cruiser 'Weymoth' in 1918.

A late cross made by Rothe & Neffe, can be seen on overall quality and the lines on red fields.

He was also awarded the RK to Leopold Orden with War Decoration and Swords.

By the way... the Military Maria Theresia Order is my favourite, also for my collection...

Oh, well, I like all Imperial Austrian awards!

Hangovers are the best way of steadying a shaky hand, hehe.

This Grand Cross and Star was in the hands of Field Marshal and Archduke Albrecht Friedrich Rudolf von Österreich-Teschen.

A Field Marshal Baton head, think it belonged to the Kaiser himself. This completes the pics from HGM, at least for this time.

Better show us your stuff, not enough AH enamel here. Collect mostly minis, FJOs and VKs. Rest of them are way too expensive for me.

Yeah, double checked pics from internet and Baton from post 35 is in the Kaisers display case. Can't remember what the sign said though.

I visited today HGM too, impressive stuff there also. Just too bad the lighting is quite poor in many places (probably for some sort of preservation reason?).

I was mostly looking for to see order&decorations over there so one thing caught my attention: they have hell of a lot Military Maria Theresia orders over there

Just this one vitrine has 19 pcs, and there was a looot other individual ones in other vitrines. Now I know why they are so rare - most of them are locked up in HGM

I don't remember for sure, but I think these were on ground floor, in the room right side of entrance door after entering the building (opposite the cafe and WW2 side) - same room with the Kaiser FJ stuff but just on the left side of the room. Could've been 2nd floor too, but I think it was ground floor anyway. So lot to see there - I ran out of time - I went there only about 1,5 half hours before closing which is not enough because so lot of interesting stuff there...

Heeresgeschichtliches Museum Wien - Army Museum Vienna

I was in Vienna last week for a couple of days, and took the opportunity to visit the museum. Simply put, it is magnificent.

If your interest is Austrian order insignia and medals, see this place before you die.
The foreign orders bestowed on Emperor Franz Joseph were a delight to see.

For those of you with the interest, the outdoor armored vehicle park appeared to be
-Closed-, and the vehicles that could be seen through the glass door from the Austrian Marine exhibit area were covered with tarpaulins. I made no inquiries about it.

Please enjoy the photos that Carl has posted some time ago, and
"Thank You!" to Carl for having done so.

                            G.
