The only one I have seen is in the book by Dolf Goldsmith, which is mentioned in the Ebay offering. There is only one photo. These continued to be manufactured after the war. Look for possible date codes like "X.18" (October 1918).

I only have the first printing of goldsmiths book which is somewhat misleading this instrument was used for other weapons too ie: Light Artillery.
I,ve seen two in private collections both mounted on tripod stands painted grey but forget the maker there was an absolute stunner for sale on ebay about 4yrs years ago with no bidders described as an army instrument (not being particularly interested) I contacted the lady informing her what it was whereupon the listing abruptly disappeared...I did get a thank you note.

I would have thought this one would be grey finished to be considered W1? If not the value and cool factor drops imo.

        Richtkreis MG08 IMA

About two years ago IMA USA sold such directors, at 550 $ each. The came from Turkey, the figures where in Farsi.

This types where painted in grey, most of them had the cover missing. Maker was Busch Rathenow.
