Baden ribbon bar with wreath device

I got this obviously Baden ribbon bar with wreath device on last ribbon. I searched the forum but didn't find such a ribbon - what is it? Is it real or later put-together? The whole bar looks good to me. The second bar was in the set, it's nothing special but I took the picture anyway.

Hi Valter,

The last ribbon is most likely representing the Baden Long Service medal. The wreath may have been added later; the prongs are sticking out through the backing cloth.

A very similar ribbon was used for the Russian Order of St. Anne but it's unlikely in my opinion.


Both ribbon bars look genuine but the Austrian Commemorative medal should be in third place on the second ribbon bar, but these period mistakes did happen.

thank you for your input! I also thaught the wreath is added later, although hindy swords also have prongs sticking thru. I see those prongs quite often sticking thru the bars. Do you have any idea what should the wreath mean? I don't think the wreath was added by the faker - in that case it would be more likely put on Baden merit medal or Wurttemberg ribbon to "upgrade" the bar. This is probably NCO bar, right? Or is long service for civilian job?

The other bar is of sort to "decieve" non-eduacated viewer - you see five ribbons, four of them with swords - whoa! But four of them are just humble commemorative medals. Nevertheless, it is well worn, so the owner was proud of his service, and right so. WW1 trenches were tough indeed, even if you didn't earn high shiny orders.

Hi Valter,

You are right, if someone wanted to "spice up" this ribbon bar they should have put the wreath on the Baden or Württemberg ribbons....there is no reason for having a wreath on the long service ribbon. This would be an NCO's ribbon bar.

Could my last ribbon be of Erinnerungszeichen fur 1906 - that commemorative badge incorporates wreath! and wreath on the bar is to distinguish 1906 badge from 1906 medal? In this case, ribbon would not be the correct one but "closest match".

I hope Sascha could tell us more about this one...

I'm with Pierce, this is a nonsense wreath on a EM/NCO long service ribbon. No way for a 1906 badge. And no way to tell when it ended up there. Might well be period - period mistake.

thanks for your reply! So, we'll never know why & when this wreath ended on the last ribbon. I'll leave it as it is. Maybe a mistery will be solved some day.
