Looks to me like a 1920s-1930s piece. They had this very flat core finish and these crown details. Screwplate looks "period" too. Can you post a shot of the reverse? Any marks on the cross or the screwplate?

        A mystery in an enigma...

Just got this little group today. First, an EKII, marked K, mounted backwards. on a homemade Spange.

A couple things about the screwback EK1.

It is done in the 40s style.

The disc shows considerable wear, yet the obverse looks brand new. The paint looks wrong, but it might be the flash from the camera.

This item reminds me of the bogus L/21-marked 1939s and it also reminds me of the Floch-style pieces.

Yep, thats why I asked for a reverse photo. It could be that the disc is from another cross though...

I like the EKII, but the EKI is no good.
Interested in candid/private Hitler, KIA, and Holocaust photos. Also any AH related memorabilia--silverware, linen, crystal, china...
                  All the best,

The EK1 looks like a perfectly good example of an Imperial EK1 made in the '39-'45 period.
I think it's the pics that don't do it justice. Without better close-ups it's just not possible to tell for sure.

                        Fussel,

If you can get good, clear close-up shots of the centre beading and the outer corner beading then it may be possible to match it to a known Third Reich manufacturer of EK's.
(or match it to a known fake!)

                        Cheers,
                        Brett

ok then, sorry this is so huge but i thought i could just as well show the whole cross in a close up then:

                            Hi Fussel,
I had a look at my Third Reich made Imperial EK's (Deschler and Mayer) and it's not a match for those. I also had a look at my Nazi ones and no match there either.
                            L/11 was close but I don't think that's it.
Maybe FrankH could help as he has a good knowledge as to what's what.
                            I still feel it's a good one.

                            Cheers,
                            Brett
