    Unteroffizer ??

Could anyone confirm, whether the collar tab shows that this is an Unteroffizier?

    Hello Basse,

Several ranks wore this style of collar tab (with the one strip of state braid) for the M07 and Ersatz model overcoats. They include, Unteroffizier, Fähnrich, Sergeant, Vizefeldwebel and Offizierstellvertreter. These strips were normally worn vertically, but in the case of the Garde and other troops with Litzen...horizontally.

The rank of Feldwebel had two strips of braid. In the case of the Garde and other troops with Litzen.... one strip above and one strip below the Litze.

    Regards,
    Chip

        Basse,

Any idea where the photo was taken? There were not that many artillery units with Garde Litzen. A location (other than Berlin!) would narrow it down.

          Hello Chip
I have his millitary passport. He volunteered and came to regiment 54 and after 2 years he came to 1. garde feldartillery regiment (Berlin). He was transferred between the 107 artillery regiment and the 2. garde feldartillery regiment in the course of the war. He was at the west- and estern front.Do not know where the picture is taken.
He ends the war with landsturm battalion, Zossen. Is that an infantry unit?
Here is a picture of his waffenrock

There was an Ersatz Feldartillerie Regiment Zossen and there was a Garde Landsturm Infanterie Bataillon Zossen.
