Gentlemen, I’d very much appreciate your thoughts on these two Imperial German U Boat Badges. Both are part of a large collection I have on offer but these are beyond my area of expertise. Best regards, Simon

Hi Simon,

Imo the Schott is a nicely done repro - the reverse, including hardware, is incorrect for a genuine badge.

The "Meybauer" is a bit harder but personally I also think this one is probably a very good reproduction - the obverse detail is not correct compared to a known original Meyabuer and, despite the near correct main pin and maker mark, the reverse has that smooth effect I've see on so many fakes. Note also that there appears to be no genuine finish on the badge whereas genuine Meyabuers tended to be fire-gilded.
