Very nice Scott... I don't know anything about British Medals. However, they certainly have a unique coloring scheme to their ribbons IMO. I do like your collection, it is aesthetically pleasing although I don't know what most of them mean..

Everyone knows I collect Eks. But I have always had a thing for
fighting knives and daggers. Not those pretty German honor daggers
but knives made to be used. Especially those used by special forces
and commandos. I don't actively collect them but if I find one I like,
it's hard not to bring it home.

Thanx Scott! the 4 piece bar was awarded to an Irish Artilleryman in ww2,and the others are trios from the Great War

I don't really know anything about the 1st class Luftschultz but someone did tell me once that it was an uncommon award.

I guess it really is. By coincidence this set was posted for sale today.

This is really only quasi-militaria, but by far my biggest addiction/distraction/etc.

I just love period model tanks. There's only 6 or so that aren't pre-wwii at least. I have a few as old as the late teens that I'm particularly fond of.


I have still yet to find a good place to talk about these things on here. At least I don't feel so weird after seeing some of the the insane(ly awesome) collections you folks have.

What forum would you suggest? I'm torn between the panzer forum and the model building forum. These really don't fit into either.

Reguarding the WW2 British medals I was told the way to tell the difference between British ones and Canadian ones was to look at the round medals if made of silver they were Canadian, and if made of nickle they were British, Also look for the CVSM(Canadian Voluntary Service Medla), if there is one on the medal bar it is a Canadian bar

The other way to tell is that the British medals were rougher in finish compared to the Canadian medals.

Both my father and uncle were in the RCAF. My father had the CVSM with bar, France Germany Star, 39-45 Star, Defence Medal and Victory Medal. The two medals were silver and finely detailed.

That would be terrific -- I would love to see them. Unless Don objects, just do the thread right here, in Imperial. Start off with the WWI models so it's appropriate, then we can wander into the later ones. Suits me
