    Very Rare $700 1914 EK1

Saw this listed on eBay a moment ago. The seller is the irascible 'snyderstr'.

He sez, "this is the real deal". He wants $700.

    What do youse think?

Boy, that is about as fake as fake gets. Ebay is such a heap of garbage.

            all the way.

              Why!!!!

These people continue to sell crap.....and then we have their brainless idiots or 'partners' who extoll their virtues!

                Hi,

I'm not going to defend this cross - it IS cr*p and way overpriced but I don't think it's a fake as such. It looks like a parts cross to me - the reverse frame of a 1939 EK1, the obverse frame from and EK2 (with lug) and a 1914 EK core (which looks a bit too small). Look at the edges of the cross - the frames don't match and I don't think even a faker would get that wrong!

                Regards
                Mike K

PS: I'm away from home and behind a work firewall so can't see the "other" forum at all, let alone the referenced thread - I have no idea in what way this cross is being defended over there.
                Regards
                Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

In the Canadian Army we call this "APS" which stands for "Aluminum Pot Syndrome". All those years of eating rations in the field out of aluminum pots have rotted the Major's brain.

It is atrocious, not even a decent job, but even if it was an original, $700??

                    Tony,

Does that comment mean that you won't be adding this one to your 'known makers' list?

Yeah, yeah, it was a stretch. But marginally funny.

                      From the "other forum",
Charlie is a nice enough guy
. Who's he talking about? It couldn't be Snyder. I had some dealings with him a while back and when I called him on some of his fakes his reply was basically f*ck you, Jack, I'm making a bundle. If he knows the difference between real and fake it doesn't stop him from selling the crap. And his descriptions are laughable. Whenever I bid on anything from the Baltimore area I check to see if the seller is associated with him.

If remember right, this same guy was ebaying foir 100 $ a Bulgarian helmet M51 /worth about $9/. The price is not the problem, but the fact that his descriptiuon was claiming, without any doubt and with lots of words, that it is a WWII helmet and the liner inside is German!

I'm with Mike K that this is some kind of Frankenstein cross. The Deschler set up is absolutely spot on right down to the heavy stamping at the top of the 1.

I don't know anything about this seller personally (other than stories I've heard from other people), but I know what I've been seeing on Ebay for years and years. At one point, I tried to find a way to exclude him from my pre-saved searches in My Ebay by tagging "-snyder's treasures" on the end of the search line, but it never seemed to work.
