1870 toy ek

Here is something that has been bugging me everytime I see it on E-bay as an authentic: prinzen,patriotic,miniature Iron Cross 1870. Almost always seen without the card. This item was sold through comic books during the sixties and also in "dime stores" there is a series of 8 I believe actually sold and there was more to be made but the company went belly up. So just be aware if this shows up on your local auction site:

When I was waaaay younger I read copious amount of comic books and somewhere in the ads was an ad for these medals I have all eight that were made, these were: Distinguished Service Order (UK), Most Exalted order of the Star of India (uk), Iron Cross 1870 (Prussia), Croix de Guerre (fr), Croix de Guerre (bel), Order of the Crown (Italy), Victoria Cross (UK), Legion of Honour (fr). I'm not to sure if anymore were made but they were going to produce The Pour Le Merite (pr), Medal of Valor (it), Military Order of Maria Theresa (austria) Order of the Rising Sun (jp) DFC (US), DSM (US),Silver Star(US) and Purple Heart (US). They may have gotten into trouble when they proposed to do the US series. Looking on the back of the card they were going to produce 8 more that are not listed above. I did one time sent off a buck to get my first medal, but about three months later I got a check in the mail refunding my dollar saying the company was no longer making these.

Okay I'm in a chatty mood tonight. I"m considering making a web site with all these little medals and their cards to show what they look like so that buyers can look and see what they are buying. I've seen a few of the other medals on e-bay (the VC is the most common). It scares me that people are buying these as original whatevers.

I got mine with a good full-sized and court-mounted 1870 EK 2. The seller included it at no extra charge -- luckily for me as I now see!

Can you believe it???There is one of these on ebay right now and it's selling for $51.00!! I had informed the seller and he amended his listing (to his credit). Now it seems that because it"s a toy it's more valuable

I've been seeing these around for so long, I kind of stopped worrying about them. It's nice to see one in the original packaging, just to settle the issue for once and for all. I hope you don't mind if I save the photo in case I ever need it to win a bar bet.
