          Tony,

Just some friendly advice. If you know nothing about these, I would suggest that you save your money. There are so many fakes in this arena (some of them very good) that you might want to re-think your desire to buy something. Someone here once called collecting German flight badges a mine field. That is an understatement.

          Regards,
          Chip

Thanks Chip, was really just hoping to upskill myself in some WW1 badges.
Not planning to spend anything on this really, just curious about what it was, if it was a copy, etc
Now I'm curious about what a Gode(t) is/was & when they would have been produced?

Not Godet. ------------- Gode. A German company that makes some very
              nice reproductions.

                Oops

Thought it was incorrect spelling for Godet

                Thanks all

The repro firm's name it Göde, with an Umlaut. These badges go for about five to ten bucks on eBay. And I'd still not buy them...

Göde makes lots of stuff, not only orders and awards. For example all kinds of law enforcement and Fire dept helmet badges. They are maker marked specially, not intended to trick collectors. Often found with a "Göde certificate" and boxes can be bought to collect whole series.

Who actually collects these tin trinkets beats me but there's plenty to be found.

Ebay.de is infested with them. I wish they would spray something to get rid of them......

Well, let that be a lesson to me !!!!

I don't collect non original stuff anyway and at least I'm now aware of the 'Gode' name.

Thanks for all your input, that's why I love WAF
