    National World War One Museum

I found a website for the National World War One Museum in Kansas City, MO. Has anyone been there? Can they recommend stopping by? How long would you recommend for a visit?

Please add to the thread if you can contribute.

    Carl,

I live about ten minutes from the museum and used to be on the collections committee. I often meet out of town collectors and give them the tour. It's a state of the art museum, with wonderful exhibits, audiovisual presentations and a research library. I first saw it in 1961 when my family moved here from St.Louis. It's am impressive memorial, near downtown and across the street from our 1913 train station.

If you come to see it, I would plan one full day, depending on what your interests are. I have an open invitation to anyone who would like to meet and visit the place. We are very proud to have it in our city.

Chip, Kansas City has every right to be proud of the museum. I was there a couple of years ago for a conference and got to spend four days at the museum, amazing is an understatement. You will find items on display you won't find any where else in the world. Really, it's worth the trip to KC just to see the WWI museum and memorial. If you have a few days there are even more great museums to visit: the 1913 station as Chip mentioned, the Steamboat Arabia museum (which is an unbelievable time capsule of the 1850s), the Negro Baseball League and Jazz museums....I fell in love with that city!
If you have the chance to go take it!

And the BBQ isn't half bad either!
