    Medal Bar - Austrian Fake?

    Hello all.

I purchased this medal bar from the estand about 6 months ago and a question has been raised about it.

Could this bar be the work of the famous 'Austrian Faker'?

    Thanks

    Matt

      Hi Scott

No - I don't have a UV light. I will try and track one down this week.

I do not know how easy things are in new Zealand but I bought mine from amazon for literally $4.00.

        Thank you Scott.

I am no medal bar expert but to me this does not have the signs of the famous Austrain fakes.

The reverse hardware and backing material look nothing like the Austrian faker's that I'm aware of.

Here is an example of the faker's work. I will say that the stitching appears simular.

I wish there was only the one faker.

This one came from a guy from middle Germany (Sachsen-Anhalt), who litterally never (at least from what I've seen within the last six years) has sold a real medal bar.

The awards - at least here - are good, of course.

You can check his sloppy bars here: http://feedback.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI...al=0&items=200

                    My Ex Bar.

                    Hi All,

Matt purchased this bar from myself in November last year and ive sent him a PM saying if hes not happy to return the bar to me and ill refund him fully.

IMO and there are no experts but this bar is good, i think a collector can tell by the look of the medals, ribbons, pin catch setup alone that it beres NO resemblance to the known Austrian faker? however as i said i will take it back in a heartbeat?

                    Also what is "Jarn",Sorry

                    Best

                    Ross

The "j" is pronounced like a "y" in German, so I'm guessing he means "yarn" or "thread."
                      Best regards,

Maybe I got your post wrong, I'm not a Native speaker. As said, it's not from the Austria faker, but by another one. See my post above for details.

                              Hi guys.

I guess I'd like to come to a definitive answer on this too (if such a thing is possible).

Based on what we've seen do we think this is:
                              • 100% good
                              • 100% bad
                              • or somewhere in between?

                              Thanks

                              Matt
