    Help with EK2 identification

    Hey guys,

Can anyone please help me identify this cross? I'm told it measures 44mm wide and weighs 18 g. An AWS perhaps? Also, any thoughts on an approximate value? Thanks for your help.

    Best,

    Alex

Imho its an AWS Alex, a less common and nice quality EK2. If Im correct, I believe Trev pointed out in a previous thread here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=591418 that this is " their first (early wartime) core" ... Ive seen these go anywhere from $60 (if your lucky with ebay ) to $230 on dealers sites

It is as previously mentioned, AWS 1st core. A very nice cross. I've NEVER seen them listed for more than 100 bucks but thats just MY personal experience. I even got my first for somewhere around 40 or 50 lol.

      Regardless, a nice cross!

Very nice looking AWS with their first core -- used from 1914 or 1915 (at the latest) on.

Not sure what governed which core was used when, but I know there was a lot of overlap with their various cores. But I do also know this one was their first.

Thanks for your feedback, guys. I've been wanting to add a nice AWS to my collection for some time. So this looks like a good one to start with. Thanks again.

Incidentally, does anyone know what AWS stands for?

          Best,

          Alex
