    Alloy EK1?

Are there alloy versions of the WW1 EK1?

    Hi Loggie,

What do you mean by alloy? Non-silver? If so, yes, there are brass/tombak and nickel silver examples among others. There are plenty of echt silber examples that are not marked for silver content.

From the poor pic, I'm guessing you have a KO marked (or unmaked) example with unmarked silver frames and pressed/sheet iron core.

The core is not iron. Are the Shinkel cores iron?

A zinc core could be possible.

Can you post better pics, front AND reverse?

I cannot take pictures until I return home in early May. I have a lot of forum due outs when I return. It seems you already addressed a concern that I have- there are zinc examples. I do know it is lighter in weight than an iron core model. It is also vaulted. I really appreciate the comment.

This would be the first non-iron core I see on this cross type. Sure it's not iron?

I agree with Sascha, its a KO and I never heard of a non magnetic one of that type.

              We'll just have to wait

              Best regards,

I have been told they are some examples that exist made of aluminum. Is it possible that private purchase lighter matieriel examples exist?

Nothing is impossible, but unknown maker KO is neither known for any private purchase crosses...

That's not a KO and it doesn't look like the thread starter. It is a Petz & Lorenz cross from the inter war years/early WW2.

Thread starter photo was my mistake. I was away from home and I grabbed the incorrect photo from my lap top.

Well, at least all the questions make a bit more sense now!

                            I agree with Don, a typical P&L 1-piece strike in non-mag alloy.

                              I agree absolutely.
