    EKI 1914 Godet

    Hi,
I would like to know your opinions.
    Thanks in advice.
    Best regards

You've posted this in the wrong forum, but I'm sure a moderator can move it to Imperial where it belongs.

This is a fascinating cross for me - and a few things stand out.

    1) It is not a standard Godet core, in fact it is very different from Godets 'typical' 1914 core. I would suggest that if you can, you do a new shot that is straight on to the obverse of the cross - the date is enough to see it is not a 'typical' Godet but the obverse photo is on such an oblique angle it's really no help to anyone.

    2) The reverse hardware looks good to me...

but the most noteworthy thing IMO is the maker mark.

It's a shame the hook appears to be so bent over that the pin can't be opened up, because that is the first time I have seen that Godet mark on the back of an EK.

I have seen it only once before on an RKM (below) and it of course appears commonly in print on the inside of Godets' luxury etui (one can be seen on the left HERE )

    Anyone else?

            Hi Marshall!

I find it very interesting... I do own a couple of Godet's 1st class IC, but none with this kind of font! Thank you for showing.

            ciao,

Yes, by god, it is! Thanks for the bump.

I have seen this stamp on a number of items, including most prominently Hohenzollern House Orders of various classes.

In my opinion this cross looks like it could very well match (frame, core, pin, hinge, [800] mark) some of the later, interwar Godets like this one. But the stamp itself is one I'd considered earlier -- and I think most everyone considers it earlier.

Anyway, it's a very interesting cross and I have no doubts it is authentic. I'm sure it will re-appear here on the forum.
