    Nice cross

These are sometimes (mistakenly) referred to as "Flyer's Crosses"
The backing plate could be sewn onto a uniform for a more secure
mounting. It was believed this was very popular with flyers however
there is absolutely no evidence showing that. It is just one of the
unique mounting systems used by different makers.

It does make for a good story.

            Hi Graeme,

The first cross you show is a beauty

I'm not too sure about the KAG cross, If my memory serves me, there were a few engraved, KAG marked under the catch fakes floating around a few years ago. I've never seen anything other than KAG on the pin.

I'll try to find the old threads or maybe someone else can chime in on this.

            Chris

                Hi Graeme,

Sorry to tell you I agree with the other guys on this one. The engraving doesnt look good in my opinion and the KAG marking is also fake IMO.

I have one similar to the first one posted, but with some obvious differences like the nuts, the 800 stamp isn't in a "box", and it has 12 holes in the backing plate rather than 16.
