    Strange ribbon-bar

Here is a ribbon-bar for the EKII and the Hamburg Hanseatic Cross. Nothing special except that the TWO ribbons are actually ONE ribbon, colored one half black-white and the other half red-white. I've never seen a ribbon like that.
Btw the back is gray laquered and stamped "DRP" = Deutsches Reichs-Patent.

Very nice-- a fine wartime WW1 bar. Weaving multiple ribbons as one piece was more common from the 1930s on. Watch for some in the Ribbon bar Article, now nearing Final Readiness For Posting!

More commonly seen are the Third Reich ribbons manufatured in multiple arrangements, i.e., EKII and Eastern Winter Campaign 41-42 and KVKII and Eastern Front 41-42.

        Hi Majorpayne,

nice one! This combined ribbons are normally to find in the 3rd Reich, but rarely You can find such pieces in WW1, mostly with the EK and another EK-equivalent of one other German Country.

        Best regards

          Dear all,

I posted this before. This is also ONE ribbon. Any clue what the small part is?
Don´t get misguided by the Sütterlin on the cardboard, the cardboard was for a Flowerwar ribbon originally.

            Hi Munich,

that ribbon looks like a buttonhole- combination of the EK and a half-visible Baden Verdienstmedaille. RARE to see something like this.

Wilhelm II. had a funny buttonhole ribbon combined from I think 7 or 8 ribbons.

            Best regards

                Hi Frank,

if You have the Nimmergut/Krischer Bänderkatalog, there are also some nice Combinations to see. But Your one with a half- visible second ribbon is really good!

                Beste Grüße

                  Interesting ribbons!

Hi guys, I have several, different examples of the "all in one" style. Will try to post photos this weekend. Rick

The "half visible" theory is interesting (Bad. Verdienstmedaille).

I always assumed that the guy who had this ribbon made was probably a Baden officer who wanted to show that although he won that Prussian award, he "won" it for Baden and put the colours of the Baden crest (yellow & red) right next to the EK ribbon.

                    Cheers, Frank H.

                      Hi Frank,

interested in some more nice combined Baden ribbons???

Will make the scans and post it in a new thread, because this ribbons are not for ribbon bars.

                      Best regards

Also in the 1957 issue combined ribbons were used. Here is an example, with a white thread sewn in the middle to distinguish the 2 ribbons.

                        Best regards
