    Hi,

the light blue color of the plm can easily look like white in the black and white- pictures. But the Red eagle orders- Grand crosses ou can see at the necks of the Generals are really white.

    Best greetings

    Daniel

      Thanks Daniel,
I really should have guessed that these orders were larger and that the artists would not have made a mistake with their colours.
However, wasn't G.F.M.von Hindenburg a PLM recipient? And wouldn't the artist have included this in the portrait?
      Many thanks.

        Hi Andrew,

of course, Hindenburg got the plm and the oakleave to the plm, but this picture was made before WW1 as he still was General der Infanterie.

        Best regards

        Daniel

P.S. here is he as GFM wearing the plm

          Thankyou Daniel,
I was just about to issue a retraction of my question upon further investigation. You have beaten me to it.
          Thanks again.
          Regards:Andrew
At least now I know von Hindenberg was the third recipient of this award during the great war.

            Karl Mauss

            Daniel,

Nice color picture of the General (colonel) though he looks to be very aged compared to the LtC. picture. Must be more stress than age.

I never see nice pictures for sell, especially WWI pictures. All of you know so much and have so many Imperial and 3rd Reich items.

Someone is gonna have to start sharing with me. I don't have one good item in my collection. Cry, cry!!!
