    Godet EK1

    Hello all,

I'd appreciate your opinions...I'm not sure if this is an unmarked Godet or is it just one of those generic core/frame types that is not attributed to any maker in particular?

    Thanks

      Hey Rich,

looks like the one I posted on another EK1 thread a couple of days ago. I think Trevor i.d. it as an AWS frame, slant W core. Definitely one of my favorites, these things are pretty attractive.

      Here's a thread on Godets..

Yeah, that's why I posted it. It got me thinking that maybe my Godet was an imposter. Looks like I will be increasing my eBay activity to track down a real one now.

          Thanks for all the replies.

Greg, the light box is working its magic.

Rich, If you ever want to let that one gently slide out of your palm and into my pocket it would be no problem, I don't have the 800 on pin variation and yours has a fantastic patina, one of the best i've seen on these, oh YEAH..

I thought I recognized that frame! It is a good looking cross.

Just out of curiosity, do we have any theories on it? The Slant "W" core isn't attributed to any one maker, but rather several, correct? But the frame is attributed to AWS...Do we think AWS was out sourcing their frames to another company for a short period or do we think they started picking up the slant core to offset any core shortages they may have been going through and just continued with their own frame...

              BTW, I echo Chris' sentiment
