The lettering is what gives me that impression.

Personally I like it. Heavily plated tombak, correc t hardware, crisp maker's mark, hand finishing on the reverse edges and genuine "dings" all work for me.

I think it's OK. Maybe the background of the photos and the fact that it has more wear and patina throws people off.
