Imperial service medals

I'm looking for a reference site about Imperial service medals, prussian and bavarian are most important to me now. But i would love to read about others.

You mean Long Service medals?
Medals awarded for years in the army/navy???

Dienstauszeichnung literally means "service decoration" or "service distinction" in English, but we tend to call them long service medals. "Service medal" in English usually refers to a campaign medal or other decoration for service in a war or campaign.

Generally, I don't cover either long service medals or campaign medals (or civil awards either), because (i) it would take entirely too much effort to cover all of the variations, (ii) I don't collect long service medals myself and (iii) it is enough trouble just trying to cover all of the individual bravery/merit decorations.

I don't know of any sites that cover Prussian or Bavarian long service medals in any great detail, but there is a German-language article on Saxon long service medals on Andreas Schulze Ising's site: http://www.medalnet.net/dienst.htm
