    Father Walther Emmert

Just wanted to share with You my latest fleamarket find from this morning.

This is chaplain Father Walther Emmert on his ride to the front-lines.

    More detail:

I bought this postcard together with 50 other nice 1st WW postcards. The lady on the fleamarket had at least 600 fieldpost-cards from 1st WW, most of them from french towns. I picked out 50 from what I would think were the best ones. ( Price was 1 Euro each)
And of course I tried to get the whole lot, but she refused to sell it complete.
Anyway, 1 Euro for this chaplain - made my day.

    Kind regards
    Robert

    More

Here are some more from what I got this morning.

Now one which is very interesting in my opinion:

This is some kind of border-patrol. On the sign there is to read something with "Grenze ..... 1914" , I changed the contrast a bit to make it more readable:

Two of the "trio" wear armbands and I can also read the word Grenze for border:

The third one with the revolver seems to be very young:

There is a caption on the back, hard to read the handwriting, but it says:

    >>Ein Grenzidyll am ????? Weg zu Beginn des Weltkrieges 1914, Ende Februar 1915 öffentl. ????? <<

Maybe some of my german mates can read more ?

As these three men wear no uniforms and only armbands, armed with a mixture of weapons, I really would like to find out more about this photo.

    Thanks for looking.

    Kind regards
    Robert

      Robert,

Just abosolutely fantastic! What a photo! I am stunned though, this father is wearing what appears to be a brother's habbit rather than a field-grey frock coat. Look also at the non-standard cross, which fits him being Catholic (Catholics seemed to wear whatever they had in their church, even in WWII) At least he wore the right hat!

An amazing photo added to an amazing collection!

Robert, Great find. It also appears that you got a Chaplain field service during the winter. Good time to preach a hell fire sermon.

Would you still like to match up the Chaplain Georg Zeuleis grouping and sell me
your part of the grouping so it could be with my part of the grouping?

        Again, great find on all.
        Bob
