      Hi Jujuy,

It's from Franco-Prussian war, "The Merit Cross for Ladies and Young Ladies", "Das Verdienst Kreuz Fur Frauen und Jungfrauen".

Cross is also illustrated on Stephen Previtera's book on page 134.

Do you have the picture of the obverse of the cross available?

About authenticy of this particular cross from that pic I can't say if it's good or bad.

Let's move this to "Imperial" for better results!

Looks Ok to me - I'm not aware of these being faked either...but that dosen't mean they aren't.

These are rare in terms of numbers awarded....(under 3,000 issued - that's less than half the number of Knights Crosses...) and its value???.....

Detlev sold one (slowly) about 6 months ago for around Euro 800.00 and Liverpool Medals in the UK have one for £895.00 - (thats about Euro 1100).

I would imagine that somewhere in between those two prices is its true market value....

              Yes, except....

... The Liverpool one is boxed, so IMO Detlev's price is probably closer to reality. They are a tough sell as it is a "civilian" decoration, as opposed to military. Still great item, still great condition, just a tad tougher to move.
