help w/ 9 piece medal bar

Wondering if someone can help me with this one. Came from the grandson of a WWI American vet.
Who would carry these types of medals?

Nice Prussian EK2 Red eagle and long service with waldeck-pyrmont decorations and a Romanian crown order thrown in.........shame about the damage, it would be IMHO too expensive to repair/replace......

not Romanian crown order. Dutch Order of Orange Nassau.

You can trace who this actually belonged to, even with the damage ?
Is that because it must have been someone of importance?

Its because of the combination of awards. The damage has nothing to do with ID'ing it.

Thats a fantastic medal bar, at least the medals with the damage are the cheaper of the orders. I dont know if you can buy the center parts, i guess it depends on who you know. To replace the dutch medal should be 200 or so and there are eagles orders all over.

Well I guessing from the PM's I've recieved that this is not your regular kind of long medal bar, but must have belonged to someone of note.

Although we have all heard these stories before the Grandson of the Veteran I purchased this from said his grandfather shot the guy who was wearing this bar in WW1.
I doubt that story.

Its an officers bar but given the awards I'm not sure he is that high in rank. Perhaps up to an Oberst? Whether he was famous or not is a different story. Still, you usually son't find bars with that many bravery awards on them because most guys were dead by then.
