    Fellow collectors,

Attached is a picture of an Onyx center EK1 in my collection. Are there any more out there?

I'd like to believe in these but I'm conflicted. Can you provide a closeup of the cross please? I had posted some 1870 vet photos that showed an EK1 that must have been onyx as the cross was so incredibly crisp.

                Michael,

That's a beauty of an EKI. Is there a maker's mark on it? Can you show a picture of the reverse? Are the crown, the W and the dates etched into the black suface or are they Silver? Sorry about all the questions I'm very curious about this rare cross.

                Thanks!

                Tony

                            Michael,

As we somethimes say here in Chicago F*CKIN' AYE!!!!!!!!

That is a very nice cross. The etched details are the true hallmark of an "onyx" core. This one is sweet. Have you had the core looked at by a gemologist to ascertain that it is in fact genuine onyx?. Is the one arm open on the outside edge? The core is held in an assembled box type construction? I am curious as this is a very rare type of EK. I find it very interesting that it is K.A. G. marked. Does anyone know who this maker is?

This is a beauty and if you happen to tire of it I can find a very good home with other distinguished residents to keep it company.

                            Tony
