    EK1 with name - Real???

    Hi,

I saw this WWI EK1 in an auction site. Non magnetic piece.
I think this is made after WWI. before WW2.

    What do you think real?
    Who is the maker?
    Price?

It's a Deumer probably made in the 20s-30s. I cannot say whether the engraving is good or not.

As I know, no EK's were issued named so it's a private engraving. So nobody can say it's real or not as there is no regulation I know about how to do it.

Here's a link where you can find the Name in Germany, nearly everywhere.

I think Kay did a study on period engravings and the type of tools used that left their signature marks. Even this isn't a sure fire way to tell if the engraving was period made as old tools could have been used at a later period.

Maybe Kay will chime in on this one..?

              Hi Guys!

              I talked with Kay.
Kay Opinion, because he not WAF member now:

              László

I am not giving guarantee's,,,,,,in the direction good or Bad
reason fore that is the some what extraordinary style off inscription .

              by that I mean,,
that the letters have a shadowing in there style by horizontal grooves .

interestingly enough I found that style also in a 1934 catalog off Deumer .( in a engraving style example they provided at the time )

but not as an official style ,,

only they're number style hold the same shadowing style ,,,,,not the lettering style off that time

so that ,,wood be some off what off a indication
              but not a certainty

              but even knowing that,,,,
suspicious it can be,,, as the hinge and pin are cut off
the value off such an ek wood be in the cheap leftover section .
so, it wood be interesting enough to engrave it a bit
to get the value off the up again .
(dont think people wont try that .)

              as fore the style

the lettering looks in the style off the period .
oxidation in the cut's looks convincing.
it is very professional done ,
              looking very good .

so ,,lots off pluses+++++ fore the engraving on the other hand .

but still ,,,,a question mark fore the originality off the engravings .

              fore the price your selling,,
let the buyer do they're own conclusions about it
dont try to find an answer to the engraving
it wood be impossible to give guarantees fore that . ( good or Bad ) fore now

              regards kay
