This badge (and unit) is Austro-Hungarian (actually Austrian, as it's from Austrian part of double monarchy), NOT German as erroneusly stated on Worthpoint page. The badge is very nice, but I don't know if that rare as aforementioned seller tries to show. It's one of many different semi-official AH badges, often referred as "kappenabzeichen" (cap badges), as soldiers wore them often on caps.

You can be very right, Chip. I'm not very familiar with these tipes of badges, and I see prices are going up for all cap badges except the very common ones. My remark about not being super rare and pricey was in comparison with enammeled badges, crosses etc. And since it's regimental badge, it is more common than i.e. batallion badges, but again much scarcer than corps ones.

Here's a Gurschner example from the Czech "Kappenabzeichen" website. http://kappenabzeichen.webnode.cz/ka...luky-landwehr/
