I found this case for sale on the e-stand. It is a cased Brunswick service medal. What was of interest to me was the emblem on the top. It matches the emblem on a cased 1914 EK2 that I have. I wonder if the cased EK2 was some type of presentation piece or veterans piece. All opinions are welcome.

Paul,
I wonder if maybe this case was originally for a Brunswick KVK and someone saw the cross pattern in the material and put an EK in it. I do not own a Brunswick KVK so could some one check to see if the outer dimensions of the KVK come close to matching the beading on the EK. Just a thought.

I know nothing about medals. However, the folks at http://www.heraldique-europeenne.org/Regions/Allemagne/Couronnes.htm have been very kind in allowing me to post things from their site to mine. There is a difference between the shapes of the crowns as shown on the site above. Yours looks like Fürst which would be consistent with Brunswick. I’ll post the Grand Duke Crown and the Kaiser’s. I hope this is of some help.
