You can post the fellow's name if you wish I don't care. I will also be posting another intereesting item from this man tomorrow. It is not a medal or badge or uniform but it is quite unique. It is the only other item of his that the family had. It is a Komono that was given to him when he was posted in Japan apparantly it has his family's coat of arms embroidered on it? I haven't seen it yet but will tomorrow.
        Cheers
        Steve

Hmm, one of the von Bronsart family, eh? Very interesting. Steve, what is the status with these awards? Are they going up for sale, or what?

Gladly! The photos show Generalleutnant aD Friedrich Bronsart von Schellendorff (1864 - 1950). The awards are probably his, but he should have swords on the Bavarian - which are missing?! Unless it is not the 2nd class cross...

I'd love to know that, too!

              dimensions

What would the proper dimensions be for it to be a 2nd class opposed to a lesser class?

Interesting that you would say that.

When I first looked at it (post #1), the unusual wear to the finish around the hole through which swords would be attached immediately made me think that it once had swords that have since been removed.

                  Kimono

Not as elaborate as Id hoped but the coat of arms is there same as in the one photo.
