    Fantastic Doug!!! - aesthetically, my favourite too....and rare.

    Are these Merit Crosses maker marked?

    The more I see them, the more they fascinate me.

    Time to open the wallet I think.......

          Hi Doug,
          Very nice womans merit cross. The case makes it especially cool. Here is
          mine which I was able to purchase right here on the e-stand.

                  Marshall-- Can not find any makers marks on mine but according to the "Iron
                  Time" some can be found with a small C or O on the eyelet but the maker is
                  unknown.


                  Chris--This cross was only awarded to woman "for service related to the care
                  of wounded and sick soldiers" There were only 2,992 awarded and they were
                  given out on April 9, June 26, and July 29 of 1871
